Practices for Following Jesus Traditional Service

Practices for Following Jesus Traditional Service

What does my life as a follower of Jesus look like on the smallest scale, in the forgotten corners of my day and in all the overlooked moments of my week? Do these moments matter to God?

Author Tish Harrison Warren once wrote, “Most of our days, and therefore most of our lives, are driven by habit and routine. We are shaped every day, whether we know it or not, by practices – rituals and liturgies that make us who we are… These habits and practices shape our loves, our desires, and ultimately who we are and what we worship.”

In the season of Lent, we are invited to renew our faith by observing the practices, or spiritual disciplines, of prayer, self–examination and repentance, fasting and self–denial, and reading and meditating on God’s Holy Word.

But what do these practices look like in everyday life? How do they impact the life that is right here in front of us today?

We can have confidence that God meets us in the most mundane, repetitive and overlooked moments of our everyday lives, and will certainly meet us in our practices for following Jesus.
