First Things First PART 4 “THE EJECTION FRACTION” (Traditional Service)

“Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21 The heart is at the center of all we do. It’s the truest barometer of who we are and where we are in life. If our hearts aren’t right, there’s a good chance very little is working well in our lives. This Sunday is not just a worship service, it’s a check up to see where our collective hearts are. So, how’s your heart?

Anyone who has had to deal with heart issues might recognize the term, “ejection fraction.” The ejection fraction is a medical test designed to measure the health of a heart. It’s a medical term, but it also holds a deeper spiritual meaning. “Create in us a clean heart,” the Psalmist says.

Or as Jesus would affirm, A healthy heart is one that pours out more than it takes in.

This Sunday, we proclaim what we believe:
that the Gospel is true.
that it really is in giving that we receive.
that people are created by God with a need to give. that generous people really are the happiest people on the face of the earth.
