One Minute Wiser Part 4 "Fearfully and Wonderfully Made" (THRIVE)

If you have a daughter, granddaughter, or young girl in your circle of family and friends, there is an important message they need to hear. In a shallow culture, people are often judged and defined by their physical appearance. Social media and peer pressure impose an unrealistic and unhealthy standard of beauty, make it especially hard on young girls and women. The pressure often results in low self-esteem, depression, and isolation. Only 4% of women around the world consider themselves beautiful 72% of girls feel tremendous pressure to be beautiful 85% of girls were using retouching apps and image ‘filters’ by the age of 13. These tools allow users to change the look of their photos, from aspects such as lighting to smoothing skin and altering the shape of their faces and bodies. 67% of girls try to change or hide at least one body part/feature before posting a photo of themselves on social media. The longer girls spent editing their photos, the more they reported low body esteem. 58% of college-aged girls feel pressured to be a certain weight.

Do you realize you’re the only one who doesn’t see you the way you really look? When you look into a mirror, you are seeing an inverted image. What you see in a mirror is not what people see when they look at you. There is an app called True Mirror! You can download it for free. It will show you what you really look like to other people.

So, the question is: “What does God see when He looks at us?” What if God were the mirror that we hold up to see ourselves as we truly are. No social media, no peer pressure, no advertisements. Just God, showing us who we really are. Fearfully and wonderfully made.
