The Feeding of the 5000

There’s so much we don’t know.
We don’t know his name.
We’re not even sure how old he was.

We don’t know where he came from or what his mother or father did for a living.

All we know is this; there was a boy present when Jesus fed 5000 people, and he was essential to the story.

If the boy doesn’t come forward with his own small basket of bread and fish, the story doesn’t continue.

He has what Jesus needs and he’s willing to share it. That’s all it takes. With that, Jesus feeds 5000 hungry people.

5000 hungry people.
The disciples don’t have a clue how to feed them.
The adults have no idea how to solve the problem.

Funny, isn’t it?
Everyone knows about the feeding of the 5000.
It’s the only miracle that is recorded in all four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. It’s a big deal.

But don’t forget about the boy.

He’s essential to the story.

So are you.
