The Letter We Nee to Write PART 4 “A Letter…To Our Parents” (THRIVE)

Whoever came up with the phrase, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me,” didn’t have a clue.

Words matter.

We all know it. We’ve all experienced it.

We’ve been on the receiving end of words that felt like a dagger to our heart, and we’ve also been blessed by words of encouragement from people who believed in us and loved us.

We can use words to build up or tear down; to eviscerate or edify, to hurt or heal, to bless or curse. The point is we have a choice.

Children who are blessed grow up to bless others.

Children who grow up feeling unblessed and unloved, carry their emptiness and pain with them throughout their lives and do untold harm to others and themselves.

This Sunday, we’ll talk about “The Letter We Need To Write…To Our Children.”  It may be one of the most important things you will ever do. It doesn’t matter if your child is five years old or fifty years old. Every little kid and grown adult privately long for and seeks the approval and blessing of their parent.

Here’s a hint of what’s coming:

You need to write it.

Your children need to hear it.

You’re a child of God and your Father has already written a letter to you.
