Volunteer Opportunities

Arlington Urban Ministries

  • Working at the Nu2U Resale Store, greeting shoppers, dusting, sorting donations, placing items on the shopping floor, cleaning.
    Please contact the store manager at Nu2U to get more information about available days to volunteer, etc.

Arlington Independent School District

  • Volunteers needed to help “make ready” classrooms, make copies of student work for teachers, and prepare campus bulletin boards, etc., to receive students for the new school year.

Mission Arlington – “Family-Friendly”

  • Monday-Friday 7:00am – 7:00pm Weekday volunteers needed for helping to sort and fill orders for school supplies. Mission Arlington anticipates serving 10,000 children with school supplies this coming school year. No time set for this project; any time volunteers can help would be appreciated.

Arlington Life Shelter“Family-Friendly”

  • Volunteers needed to clean-up and assist with shelter improvements. The designated daytime hours and date for this service opportunity will be determined by the Arlington Life Shelter based upon their schedule, and reported to Trinity volunteers who register to serve here.

Advocates for Special People – “Family Friendly” 

  • Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm: Volunteers needed at 3-day program sites (This service activity involves spending time with the ASP campers at the various day site programs)
  • Tuesday 6pm – 8pm: Volunteers needed for softball practice

The Waterford at Pantego

Fox Run Retirement Community

  • Wednesday Aug 1. 6-8pm: “Movie Time,” spending time with the residents watching the movie, “I Can Only Imagine,” and assisting with serving popcorn and lemonade.
  • Thursday, Aug. 2, 3-4pm – Spending time with the residents while they play the game, “Horse Race!” in their Gathering Area.

Brookdale Arlington

  • “Movie Time,” spending time with the residents watching the movie, “I Can Only Imagine,” and assisting with serving popcorn and lemonade. The day/time has not yet been determined.

A Bottle of Cold Water“Family-Friendly” 

  • Hand out cold bottles of water to anyone who would like a cold bottle of water at any “hot” community worksites, (i.e., TRE stations, highway workers, to landscape/yard maintenance workers, at laundromats,  etc.)

Operation Christmas Child“Family-Friendly” 

  • Friday morning, Aug. 3rd: Volunteers need to make crafts to be placed in the shoeboxes at the Shoebox Packaging Party.
  • Saturday, Aug 4 Shoebox Packaging Party – Volunteers needed to sort, package, and label shoeboxes stuffed with items needed for the Operation Christmas Child mission ministry, per instructions from Trinity’s OCC missionaries.

Fleece Cap Making – Trinity UMC

  • Tuesday morning, July 31 9am-3pm: S-110 downstairs, west side of Sanctuary. Under the direction of Judy Liston, volunteers would sew fleece fabric to make winter caps for the homeless. This activity requires the use of sewing machines.

“Family-Friendly” opportunities are those activities in which parents are able to include their children, but the parents must provide supervision during the tasks.
